Day 2 Salta - Cafayate

The journey starts from Salta city to the south, through route 68 traversing the Lerma Valley and its historical towns. We reach Quebrada de las Conchas (the Shell´s Gorge), where wind and water erosion carved curious shapes on the rocks (The Amphitheater, Devil´s throat, The Toad, The Castles, among others). When we arrive to Cafayate, we visit some wineries, famous for their production of Torrontes, with special characteristics due to the particularities of the climate and land. After lunch, transfer to your selected hotel.

Day 3 Cafayate - Salta

After breakfast, the morning is free to explore this beautiful town. After lunch, we transfer bac to Salta through Quebrada de las Conchas (the Shells´ Gorge) and the Lerma Valley.

Day 4 Salta - Salinas Grandes - Purmamarca

Early, after breakfast we start our day of traveling through incredible landscapes. We make a parallel route of the Train of the Clouds railway by Quebrada del Toro. Then we continue, starting the ascent until reaching 4080 meters above sea level and get to San Antonio de los Cobres. We make a break for lunch and enjoy some of the typical meals offered in the village. Back in the vehicle, we cross route 40 until we reach Salinas Grandes, right on the border between Salta and Jujuy. Then we start the descent by Cuesta de Lipán where condors are usually seen. We arrive at Purmamarca town and its Hill of Seven Colors. We continue our trip to Tilcara, where we spend the night.

Day 5 Tilcara - Caravana de llamas

This walk is ideal for everyone visiting Tilcara, adults and children of all ages. We start the circuit in the Corral de las llamas, we walk with the llamas for about 45 minutes, making a tour of the town of Tilcara. After the walk we arrive at the garden of a friendly hotel where we have a small snack: tea, mate or coffee with pastries. After this short break we return to the Corral de llamas to finish the circuit.

The rest of the day is free to explore this charming town.

Day 6 Tilcara - Quebrada de Humahuaca - Hornocal

Leaving from Tilcara in the afternoon we travel the 42 kilometers that separate us from the town Humahuaca. Once there we head east on provincial route 73, which introduces us to the Coctaca cultivation valleys. We stop on the way to taste a regional coca tea and then we drive the way up to 4200 masl. where we can enjoy excellent views of the multicolored hill of the Serranía del Hornocal. Beautiful panoramas where we can appreciate and understand the geography of the entire region of the Quebrada de Humahuaca. A unique attraction that will take your breath admiring it.

Day 7 Tilcara - Humahuaca

After breakfast and at the indicated time, we transfer to Tilcara bus terminal to take a regular bus to Humahuaca. We travel as locals do, from town to town. Upon arriving in Humahuaca, we go to our accommodation. The rest of the day is free to get to know the town, with its important Cathedral and the Independence Monument (El Indio) by the sculptor Soto Avendaño.

Day 8 Humahuaca - Valle de Iruya

On this day, we discover the Iruya Valley region on a journey through time. In this transition environment between the desert and the jungle, crossing the 4000 meters above sea level, there are the High Valleys; where the old settlers were able to organize the self-supply of food based on cultivation terraces that they built on the foothills of the mountains, taking advantage of the water from springs that is born at the top of the hills. These millenary traditions still used today. Nestled in the middle of these mythical mountains is the town of Iruya. On this day we travel 240 km total by vehicle, reaching a maximum height of 4000 meters above sea level. Departure is at 9 am, return is at 6 pm.

Day 9 Humahuaca - Salta

After breakfast, at the indicated time, we transfer to Humahuaca bus station to take a regular bus back to Salta. Upon arrival, we transfer to the hotel.

Day 10 Salta

The city of Salta deserves a whole day off to explore it. We recommend that you do not miss the High Mountain Museum, located opposite of the main square.

Day 11 Salta - Salta airport

After breaksfast, at the indicated time according to your departure flight, we transfer to Salta Airport.
